The Code of Conduct is established to maintain discipline and uphold the values of the institution. Students of Don Bosco Sagai Institute are expected to adhere to these guidelines to foster an environment of respect, integrity, and academic excellence.

1. General Expectations

Students must understand the dignity and importance of both work and study, considering them as essential duties that contribute to their personal and intellectual development. The talents entrusted to them by God must be nurtured, not only to repay the sacrifices of their parents but to prepare for life’s future challenges. Students must exhibit a strong sense of duty, as their actions reflect their personal, academic, and social responsibilities. Discipline in both learning and behaviour is critical for active cooperation between teachers and students.

The institution assumes that all students attend for the purpose of learning and expects the highest standards of integrity. Unethical or undesirable behaviour contrary to the institution's values will be dealt with severely.

2. Personal Conduct

Students must maintain cleanliness, personal hygiene, and proper attire, embodying a sense of dignity and refinement. A well-mannered and respectful demeanour is expected of all students, with mutual respect and kindness being the guiding principles in all interactions. Arrogance, bullying, or ridiculing fellow students is strictly prohibited.

Morally Reprehensible Conduct: Any behaviour that is morally reprehensible, or that systematically opposes the institution’s management, is a serious offense. Those failing to amend their actions may be dismissed from the institute at the discretion of the authorities.

3. Meetings and Fundraising

Students are prohibited from organizing or attending any meetings or collecting funds within the institution for any purpose without prior permission from the Principal.

4. Off-Campus Conduct

Students are responsible for their behaviour both on and off-campus. Serious misbehaviour outside the Institute may lead to suspension or dismissal.

5. Safety Protocols

Students must exercise caution when handling machines, equipment, electrical installations, and other institute property. They should never tamper with any machine or electrical installation without permission from the relevant faculty. Safety regulations must be followed at all times. The institute will not be held liable for any injury or disability caused by negligence.

6. Property Care

Students are prohibited from writing, scratching, or damaging Institute property such as walls and furniture. Any loss or damage to instruments or machinery under the student's care will be their responsibility.

7. Software and Technology Use

Students are not permitted to install, update, or delete any software on institute computers without the prior permission of the Principal. Unauthorized possession of software or violations of this policy will result in disciplinary action.

8. Prohibited Materials

Possession of any materials (books, magazines, CDs, DVDs, etc.) that contradict the spirit of the institute is forbidden. Substance abuse is strictly prohibited on the institute premises.

9. Personal Belongings and Visitors

Students are responsible for the safekeeping of their books and personal belongings. Visitors may only call on students during class hours in exceptional circumstances, and only with prior approval from the Principal or Dean of Studies. Phone calls to students during class time will only be allowed in emergencies.

10. Mobile Phones and Unauthorized Absence

Mobile phones are prohibited on the Institute premises during working hours. Students are not permitted to leave the institute premises without written permission from the Principal. No student may remove any articles from the institute without approval. All work conducted by students in the institue must be available for inspection by the authorities. Students must obtain permission from the Principal to take any practical work off-campus.

11. Regarding Substance Use

The use of any form of substance abuse, including drugs, is strictly prohibited on the institute campus. Students are expected to uphold a lifestyle of cleanliness and maintain a drug-free environment at all times. The institute emphasizes the importance of health, well-being, and responsibility, and the use of substances that may impair physical or mental health is entirely forbidden. Students must adhere to these standards and cultivate a positive, drug-free way of life, both within the campus and beyond. Any violation of this policy will result in severe disciplinary action, including possible dismissal from the institute.

12. Discipline in Classrooms and Other Spaces

Silence and decorum must be maintained in classrooms, workshops, and other designated spaces. This is essential to show respect for others and to promote a productive learning environment.

13. Respect for Staff and Fellow Students

All institute staff, including support personnel, must be treated with respect and courtesy. Any form of disrespect toward staff members will not be tolerated.

14. Disciplinary Actions

The institute staff will periodically assess student behavior and conduct. Any necessary disciplinary actions will be addressed by the Principal or Dean of Studies. Students must take these actions seriously as they reflect the collective responsibility of the entire institution's management.

15. Notices and Announcements

All official notices will be displayed on the institute notice board or announced in class. It is the student's responsibility to remain informed of all updates, circulars, and notices. Ignorance of any notice is not an acceptable excuse for non-compliance.

16. Punctuality and Regularity

Students must be punctual and regular in attending classes. Latecomers will only be allowed into class with written permission from the Principal or Dean of Studies. Students must obtain prior permission for any absence. A written application from a parent or guardian must accompany any leave request. Absences due to illness lasting more than three days must be supported by a medical certificate.

Absence without permission for two consecutive days will be treated as a serious matter. Absence on the opening or closing days of a term, or just before or after special holidays, will result in a fine payable to the student welfare fund.

17. Extra-Curricular Activities

Students are strongly encouraged to participate in various extracurricular activities, including sports, music, arts, and academic seminars or debates. These activities provide opportunities for personal development outside the classroom.

18. Sports and Games

Sports and physical activities play an integral role in the development of students at Don Bosco Sagai Institute. Students are expected to actively participate in games and sports organized by the institution. Prizes and certificates will be awarded to the winners.

19. Industrial Visits

Periodical industrial visits will be arranged to enhance students' understanding of their subjects and provide exposure to real-world applications.

20. Dress Code

Students must adhere to the prescribed uniform as determined by the management. The dress code is a representation of the Institute’s standards and must be followed strictly.

Students who fail to adhere to the dress code without valid reasons will not be allowed entry into the Institute. Any exceptions to the dress code must be approved in writing by the authorized person.

21. Ragging Policy

Ragging in any form is strictly prohibited and considered a criminal offense. Any student involved in ragging will face severe punishment, including potential expulsion from the Institute. As per the Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Ragging Act (1997), ragging includes teasing, abusing, causing harm, or compelling a student to perform actions against their will. Any complaints of ragging will be immediately investigated, and if found true, the student responsible will be suspended from the institution.
