Rector’s Message
Dear Students, Parents, and Well-Wishers,
It is with great joy that I address you on the importance of skill training for the youth of today, a mission that is deeply rooted in the Salesian charism and legacy of St. John Bosco. In a world that is evolving rapidly, where industries demand skilled professionals, technical education stands as a pillar for a brighter future. The Salesians have been at the forefront of vocational and technical training, believing that empowering young people with practical skills transforms lives, uplifts families, and strengthens society.

Technical Education: A Core Element of the Salesian Mission
Don Bosco understood that education must be practical, not just theoretical. His first technical institute, where he trained young people in printing, shoemaking, tailoring, and mechanical work, was a response to the needs of the time. Today, the Salesians continue this vision by running thousands of technical schools, vocational training centers, and skill development institutes across the world.
Globally, Salesians operate over 1,800 technical institutions in more than 134 countries, equipping young people with skills in engineering, IT, mechanics, hospitality, agriculture, and various trades. In India, the Salesians have established hundreds of technical schools and skill training centres, contributing to national development and youth employment. In Tamil Nadu, Salesian technical institutes have played a crucial role in empowering thousands of marginalized youth, giving them career opportunities and a stable future.
Technical education is not just about securing a job; it is about:
- Empowerment: Equipping youth with confidence and competence.
- Dignity of Labour: Teaching that every skill and profession is valuable.
- Family Upliftment: When one youth is skilled and employed, an entire family benefits.
- National Progress: A skilled workforce leads to economic growth and innovation.
